Golf signee to play on DP World Tour

Sam Houston golf signee Hugo Trommetter will be teeing up against the best golf professionals in the world this week at the DP World Tour's Ras al Khaimah Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

Trommetter will be representing the Moroccan National Team as he got the invite just two weeks ago to fulfill his dream of playing the PGA Tour against the World's best players. He will be playing at the highest pro golf stage in Europe and the next biggest tour outside of the PGA.

"We are extremely excited for Hugo this week to compete on the highest professional stage as an amateur," Bearkat golf coach Brandt Kieschnick said. "To be up close to the best will only help him compete and continue to grow into a champion. We love seeing our players in the arena at the highest level, and I believe Hugo has the talent to play with these great pros. We look forward to watching him this week and will be cheering on from Texas."

Notables in the field include Victor Perez — current points leader on the Race To Dubai — and major champions Padraig Harrington — former Ryder Cup captain — Thomas Bjorn and many other former Ryder Cup players to name a few. The event is in its second year as Nicola Hojgaard took home the prize in 2022.

This marks the first time in Bearkat golf's history that a signee has made a PGA Tour start prior to arriving on campus. Trommetter will tee of Thursday at 1:20 p.m. CST and is paired with Gary Stal and Rikuya Hoshino. Follow live scoring at www.europeantour.com.
