Kats in 5th at Colonial Classic

HARAHAN, La. — The Sam Houston bowling team is near the top of the field following day one of the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane on Friday.

The Bearkats went 4-1on the day in baker matches and currently stand in fifth place with 4,870 total pins for a 194.8 average. North Carolina A&T is in first place with 5,260 followed by Louisiana Tech (5,159), Tulane (4,959) and Oklahoma Christian (4,928).
"Today was a solid day overall and anytime you can chalk up four wins on day one it's a good start to the weekend," head coach Brad Hagen said. "This weekend is about getting a kick start on our routines, habits, and carrying over our training processes thus far. The sooner everything can get to becoming second nature the sooner we can operate on all cylinders."

Sam Houston picked topped 1,000 pins in wins over Prairie View (1,030-925) and Alabama Birmingham (1,020-934). The Kats also defeated Alabama State 909-900 and Southern 968-892. The lone loss was to A&T 985-943.

The teams will play traditional competition Saturday with the top four in total pins advancing to the championship round on Sunday at Colonial Lanes.
