MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Sam Houston rallied twice to knock off Middle Tennessee 3-2 in Conference USA road action on Sunday afternoon.
Solae Young scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute as the Bearkats have now won two matches in a row to improve to 3-2 in league play and 5-5-2 overall this season.
Middle Tennessee got on the board first in the eighth minute of the opening period. Defense dominated the match for the next 26 minutes until
Pam Murray scored the equalizer.
The Bearkats came out firing to begin the second half.
Landri Townsend gave Sam Houston its first lead of the game when she scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute.
Middle Tennessee got the goal back thanks to a penalty kick of its own 10 minutes later to knot the match at 2.
The Kats weren't going to go quietly. Young was able to find the bottom of the right goal to send Sam Houston home from a successful road trip.
The Bearkats have some time to rest as they are set to host Western Kentucky on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. at Pritchett Field.
