HOUSTON - Sam Houston never could get things going on Tuesday night, falling to Houston, 106-65, at the Fertitta Center.
The Bearkats (1-1) could not get any offense going, shooting just 27 percent from the field and committing 39 turnovers. On the other side, the Cougars (2-0) put together a 60-point outburst in the first half and led by as much as 58 points early in the third quarter before cruising to its second win of the season.
The Cougars finished with six players in double figures for the game, shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Sydnee Kemp led the Kats in scoring, posting her first 20-point game of the season and the fourth of her career. Diana Rosenthal contributed 14 points and five rebounds off the bench and Raanee Smith finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
The Kats will be back home Friday against Schreiner. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
