Bowlers off to quick start at TRACK Kat Klash

HOUSTON — The Sam Houston bowling team made a move right out of the game to move into the top three at the TRACK Kat Klash at Emerald Bowl on Friday.

The Bearkats are currently in third place with 5,184 total pins after going 3-2 in the baker matches. Louisiana Tech stands in first (5,379), North Carolina A&T is second (5,199), Eastern Shore is fourth (5,156) and Maryville is fifth (5,126) out of the 16-team field.

Sam Houston bounced back from a loss to North Carolina A&T to win its second match 1,049-1,008 against Lewis. The Kats also picked up wins over Lincoln Memorial (1,030-749) and Newman (1,087-922).
"This pattern is all about execution and was designed that way to reward quality shots," head coach Brad Hagen said. "However, we need to continue to execute and let the lane do the work for us, so our errant shots aren't so detrimental mentally and physically.Â

"We've put ourselves in a good position overall, but wins are what matters. We ended the day with a solid set, and we need to build on that momentum moving forward. Opportunity is in front of us, and we need to take advantage of it, be disciplined, and stay the course.Â

The teams will play traditional competition Saturday with the top four in total pins advancing to the championship round on Sunday.
