SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Sam Houston will attempt to build off its last outing when it takes on Missouri State at the Great Southern Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearkats (5-4) are coming off a 90-70 victory over Lamar at Johnson Coliseum on Dec. 3. Sam Houston shot 54 percent from the field and never trailed against its former Southland Conference and WAC rivals.
Lamar Wilkerson led the Kats with 24 points on 5 for 10 shooting from 3-point range. Davon Barnes chipped in 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Souleymayne Doumbia added 12 points with six boards.
The Kats and Bears (4-5) have previously met twice. Missouri State holds a 2-0 series advantage with the last game resulting in a 77-55 win for Missouri State. The two teams were supposed to play in Huntsville last season but weather forced the game to be canceled.
The Bears lost on the road at Middle Tennessee State 77-73 in overtime on Tuesday.
