Kats make a splash at Lady Techster Classic

DALLAS — The Bearkats got their biggest win of the year at just the right time.

The Sam Houston bowling team knocked of second-ranked Vanderbilt to claim the championship at the Lady Techster Classic on Sunday at USA Bowl. The Bearkats sacked the Commadores 4-1.

"Today was a huge boost of confidence for us," head coach Brad Hagen said. "We bowled well, made a lot of quality shots, battled through some adversity and still managed to remain composed. Really proud of how the team is stepping up and our vibe.

"The team is really coming together and adding the components we have really made a huge difference overall especially competitively," he added. "Another quick turnaround, but we need to get as much rest as we can and carry everything over moving forward."

Sam Houston won game one 187-149, game three 224-189, game four 213-175 and capped the match with a 213-204 victory in game five.

The Bearkats head to Jonesboro, Arkansas for another tournament Feb.17-19.
