Kats claim another team title

HOUSTON — The Sam Houston women's golf team ran away with another championship at the Husky Invitation Monday and Tuesday at the Houston Christian Husky Invitational.

The Bearkats shot rounds of 308-284-288 for a 16-over 880 which was 21 strokes ahead of second-place finisher ULM. HCU was third (902) followed by UTEP (906), Illinois State (912), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (924), Charleston Southern (930), Bradley (934), Lamar (936), Texas A&M-Commerce (939), UTRGV (940), Tarleton (941), Appalachian State (948), UT Arlington (960) and Omaha (964).

Leah Alberto placed second in the individual standings with rounds of 77-70-71 for a 2-over 218. Jennifer Herbst was third with rounds of 79-72-68 for a 3-over 219.

Zulaikah Nasser tied for seventh with rounds of 75-72-76 for a 4-over 223. Jenn David (77-78-73) tied for 14^th with 12-over 228, and Viera Permata Rosada (82-70-81) tied for 33^rd at 17-over 233.
