Box Score HUNTSVILLE — Houston Christian scored five unearned runs in the top of the 10
th inning to hand Sam Houston a 7-2 loss at Bearkat Softball Complex on Tuesday.
After allowing two runs in the third, starting pitcher
Regan Dunn settled in and threw six straight scoreless innings to give the Bearkats (10-21) a chance to win. The Huskies matched it, however, to send the game into extra innings.
HBU loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a walk in the 10
th before reliever Dayrn Gramms got a strikeout. Sam Houston appeared like it was going to get out of the jam but an error by Gramms led to a run on a fielder's choice that led to two runs.
Gramms got what would have been the third out on a strikeout the following batter, however, the Huskies were able to plate three more runs on a pair of two-out singles.
The Bearkats tied the game in the bottom of the third when
Emily Telg walked and stole second base.
Ellie Grill reached on an error and
Jordan Peno hit an infield single to get things rolling.
Brailey Wasik and
Brodie Quinlan brought in the two runs with back-to-back sacrifice flys.
Sam Houston returns to WAC play when they host Utah Valley for a three-game series beginning Friday with a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
