Wasik earns WAC weekly honor

ARLINGTON — Sam Houston sophomore Brailey Wasik had a monster weekend at the plate to earn Western Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week, the league announced Monday.

For the week, Wasik batted .545 with five RBIs, six runs, three doubles and three home runs to help the Bearkats go 3-1 with a series sweep against Utah Valley over the weekend.

She went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles, a home run and two RBIs while also scoring two runs in a 13-3 five-inning victory over the Wolverines in game one on Friday. In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Wasik hit a solo home run and scored two runs in a 4-0 win.

Wasik capped her weekend by going 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs in a 10-2 victory over Utah Valley to complete the series sweep.
