
Gurode runs away with WAC weekly honor

ARLINGTON — Sam Houston sophomore Rajer Gurode has been named the WAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Gurode won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes this past weekend at the North Texas Classic in Denton. She captured the 100 in 11.56 seconds and beat the field with a time of 23.72 seconds in the 200.
She now has the best time in the WAC in the 200 meters ahead of New Mexico State's Jhana Downie who clocked 23.76 earlier this season. Gurode's time in the 100 meters is second in the conference this season behind Madison Pippins of UT Arlington to ran it in 11.51 at the Texas Relays.
