HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston could not get going at the plate until the seventh inning in a 5-2 loss to Stephen F. Austin at Bearkat Softball Complex on Saturday.
The Ladyjacks clinched the series win with the victory after the two teams split a doubleheader on Friday. The Bearkats (16-29) fell to 7-8 in WAC play.
SFA scored a run in the second and two in the third to take a 3-0 lead on a pair of home runs. The Ladyjacks added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth.
Brodie Quinlan launched an opposite-field, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh, her sixth of the season. SFA was able to close it out with a popup and a groundout.
Sam Houston managed just two hits in the contest.
Julia Herzinger hit a double, and
Ellie Grill singled.
Daryn Grams took the loss in the circle, falling to 6-5 on the season.
