Kats place ninth at NCAA regional

SAN ANTONIO — The Sam Houston women's golf team finished in ninth place at the NCAA San Antonio Regional after three rounds of play concluded on Wednesday.
The Bearkats shot another 11-over 299 in the final round at TPC San Antonio, a par-72, 6,420-yard course. Sam Houston finished with a 42-over 906 ahead of ULM (912), Illinois (920) and Missouri State (958).
Pepperdine made a charge in the final round to finish tied for first with SMU at 9-over 873. Oklahoma State and Texas A&M tied for third at 16-over 880 and New Mexico grabbed the final qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships with 25-over 889.
Jennifer Herbst tied for eighth place in the individual standings by finishing with a 1-over 73 to shoot 1-over 217 for the tournament.
Zulaikah Nasser shot a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 16th at 5-over 221. Leah Alberto turned in a 4-over 76 to finish 44th at 14-over 230.
Jenn David closed the tournament with a 5-over 77 to finish tied for 55th at 22-over 77. Viera Permata Rosada carded her best round of the event with an 8-over 80 on Wednesday to finish 58th at 29-over 245.
