Gray headed to Norman Regional

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston men's golf sophomore Bret Gray has earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament to play as an individual medalist.

Gray, who was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, earlier this week will be competing in the Norman Regional at the Jimmy Austin OU Golf Club May 15-17.

The first-team All-WAC selection placed third at the conference championship this past weekend. Gray also posted two wins and six top five finishes this season.

He won the Blackjack Shootout on Montgomery and claimed the individual championship at the Bayou City Classic in Houston.

Gray finished second at the Bearkat Invitational in Montgomery and third at both the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas and at the All American Collegiate in Humble. His average score per round this season was 70.72 which included 16 total rounds over the course of i13 tournaments.
