SAN ANTONIO — The Sam Houston women's golf team is in ninth place following the opening round of the NCAA Tournament San Antonio Regional on Monday.

The Bearkats turned in a 20-over 308 at TPC San Antonio, a par-72, 6,420-yard course. Oklahoma State and Texas A&M are tied for first at 7-over 295 followed by SMU (296), New Mexico and UCLA (298), Pepperdine (299), Denver (302) and Auburn (304).

Jennifer Herbst is tied for 16th after shooting 2-over 74. Zulaikah Nasser is tied for 27th at 4-over 76.

Leah Alberto is tied for 33rd with a five-over 77. Jenn David is tied for 55th at 9-over 81, and Viera Permata Rosada is tied for 59th at 10-over 82.

Round two is scheduled for Tuesday with the tournament resuming at 8 a.m.
