Redfield tabbed D1Baseball All-America selection

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston outfielder Joe Redfield has earned another national recognition.

On Thursday, he was named to the D1Baseball All-America third team. The Waco native joins Grand Canyon shortstop Jacob Wilson as the only two players in the Western Athletic Conference to receive the honor.

Redfield, who was a third team ABCA All-American selection and named to the ABCA Central Region first team, hit .402, which ranked 21st in the country. He tied for seventh in the nation with 100 hits to help the Bearkats to a 39-25 record including a WAC Tournament championship.

The first-team All-WAC selection led the team with 15 home runs and 81 runs scored in his first season at Sam Houston as the Bearkats advanced to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional where they eliminated Tulane.
