HOUSTON — Sam Houston scored a late goal, but it was not enough in a 2-1 setback at Houston Christian on Thursday evening.
The Bearkats (1-3) finally got on the board in the 87th minute.
Tiana Johnson scored her first goal of the game when she kicked the ball past goalkeeper Chloe Bagshaw off a rebound on a shot by
Ariana Carrington. The Huskies were able to let the time click off the clock as Sam Houston could not mount an offensive attack in the final minutes.
Houston Christian took a 1-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first 30 minutes of the match. Emily Jaimes broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 21st minute, and Olivia Rossman scored what would prove to be the game winner six minutes later.
Sam Houston returns to Pritchett Field to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday at 11 a.m.
