JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Sam Houston closed its first Conference USA road trip with a 3-0 loss to Jacksonville State on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearkats fell to 6-9 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Gamecocks won a hotly contested first set 27-25 then closed out the match with 25-20 and 25-23 wins in the second and third.
McKenzie Morvant led the Kats with eight digs while Jaylibe Garcia-Rosa added six and
Alyssa Fielder and
Hailey Heider each had five.
Hannah Baker had 16 digs, and
Avery Fowler and
Camryn Weldon had 16 and 10 assists, respectively.
Sam Houston will return to Johnson Coliseum for the first time since the Bearkat Invitational at the end of August when its hosts FIU for two matches on Sept. 29-30.
