Kats place 12 of 34 teams at Northeast Classic

NEW CASTLE, Del. — The Sam Houston bowling team placed 12^th at the Northeast Classic on Sunday.

The Bearkats finished with 13,547 total pins over three days. Jacksonville State won the team championship followed by North Carolina A&T, Arkansas State, Youngstown State, Nebraska, Tulane, Stephen F. Austin, Vanderbilt, Maryville, Louisiana Tech and Mount St. Mary's.

Sam Houston did win its first match, knocking off Oklahoma Christian 4-3 before falling to Louisiana Tech and Mount St. Mary's

"Frustrating weekend despite scoring decently," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Sadly, a lot of our qualifying is luck of the draw but that's no excuse for our execution. We Have to continue to make quality shots no matter the circumstance or opponent. It's the only way for us to move forward."
