HUNTSVILLE — The Bearkat women's tennis team opened its 2024 spring dual match schedule with a pair of shut-out victories over Prairie View on Friday afternoon at the McAdams Tennis Center.

The two contests marked the seventh consecutive season that Sam Houston women's tennis has started its spring dual match schedule with a home contest against the Panthers. The Kats dropped only one set in singles.

"The team got the season off to a good start with the performance today," head coach Rob Hubbard said. "We're happy with where we are right now. Our players returned from the holiday break in shape and ready to play. We got off to a good start today."

Sam Houston completes its first weekend of action on the home courts with an 11 a.m. non-conference match-up with UT-Tyler on Saturday.

All of the Bearkats got to see action with Paula Cerda and Vianne Schwab picking up a pair of victories and Megan Basson, Sahithi Vutukuru, Aaliyah Hohmann, Linn Svaerd and Roberta Sechi picking up a win in their season opening matches.

"We're looking forward to another opportunity to improve Saturday against UT-Tyler," Hubbard said.
