HOUSTON - The Sam Houston track and field team performed well at the Robert Platt Invitational hosted by Houston at Yeoman Fieldhouse over the weekend.
The Bearkats would have 4 top-three finishes for the men's team, while the women would have one top-three finish over the weekend.
Highlighting the men's team was Christian Rivera, who was the first Bearkat to finish in the top-three over the weekend placing second in the Men's 1 Mile run with a time of 4:11.06. The Kats would also finish second in the Men's 4x400 Meter Relay with the A-team of Robert Krosnyak, Jayden Jones, Christian Rohlack and Derrick Warren Jr finishing with a time of 3:16.01.
Moving to the field events, Sam Houston would receive a third place finish from Jerimiah Jackson in the Men's High Jump, finishing with a 2.13 meter average. Rylan Olguin would finish second in the Men's Pole Vault with an average vault of 5.20 meters for the Bearkats.
For the women, Rachel Maciejeski would give the Kats a first place finish in the Women's Pole Vault with an average vault of 3.75 meters, just .05 meters higher than second place. Bailey Cotton wouldn't be too far behind, receiving fourth place in the pole vault event with a 3.70 meter average vault.
