Box Score HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston volleyball team completed a series sweep with a 3-2 victory over Jacksonville State at Johnson Coliseum on Friday.
The Bearkats (13-10, 8-4 CUSA) went the distance, taking the match with set scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, and 15-8.
Sam Houston capitalized on 17 errors by the Gamecocks to secure the opening set, 25-19, before Jacksonville State responded with a 25-22 win to even the match.
Chelsea Butler powered the Bearkats to a 25-21 win in the third set, scoring three consecutive points to close it out. Jax State forced Sam Houston into a fifth set for the first time in conference play this season with a 25-16 win in the fourth.
In the final set, Sam Houston dominated for a 15-8 win, recording eight kills, two blocks, and an ace.
Lylah Washington led the Bearkats with 14 kills, while Alyssa Fielder followed closely with 13. McKenzie Morvant and Sameena Burns each contributed three blocks.
The Bearkats head to Liberty for matches on Friday and Saturday. Both games will be available on ESPN+.
