MIAMI, Fl.– The Sam Houston volleyball team fell to FIU 3-0 on Saturday at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. 

The Bearkats (13-16, 8-10 CUSA) dropped the match in straight sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-14. 

Sam Houston started strong with a 6-0 run but FIU was able to close it out with 25-21 set win. It was all FIU from there as they took the second and third set.  

Michaela Panekova led the team with 13 kills. Avery fowler had 26 assists and two aces on the match.  

Sam Houston will head to the Conference USA Tournament in El Paso where they will go toe-to-toe with the top teams in the league with a chance to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. The sixth-seeded Bearkats will face third-seed New Mexico State On Thursday at 8 p.m.
