Women’s Golf in seventh at Westbrook Invitational

PEORIA, Ariz. – The Sam Houston women's golf team got off to a strong start and finished the opening day of the Westbrook Invitational in seventh place on Sunday at Westbrook Village Golf Club.Â
The strong start came in Round 1, thanks to a round of 67 from Jenn David and a 68 from Jennifer Herbst. The Kats were just three strokes off the lead after Round 1, posting a team score of 279, and turned in a 284 in Round 2. Â
Kansas currently leads the field at –30 (546), with Sam Houston's score of –13 (563) putting the Kats three shots back of a quartet of teams tied for third. Â
David followed up her 67 with a 1-under score of 71 in Round 2 and is currently in a tie for 12th individually. Herbst is in 28th place after carding a 73 in the second round. Â
Grace Jin finished her day tied for 32nd at –2 after firing matching 71s, whlie Zulaikah Nasser (73-70) and Viera Permata Rosata (74-72) are in ties for 39th and 59th, respectively.Â
The Kats will conclude the Westbrook Invitational on Monday. Play can be followed via Golf Stat.
