Kats get gold in College Station

COLLEGE STATION - Sam Houston finished with multiple medalists at the Charlie Thomas Invitational hosted by Texas A&M at Fasken Indoor Track on Friday.

Both the men's and women's team finished with a total of 16 medalists that included six gold medalists, seven silver medalists and three bronze medalists.

The men's team kicked off the day with Jayden Jones placing second in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.75 seconds. Gudisa Adnow and Christian Gonzalez would take the top two spots in the men's 3000-meter run and Dominykas Cepys would take gold in the men's shot put.

Perhaps the highlight of the tournament however was the men's pole vault, where the Kats took home the top five spots in the meet. Benjamin Carlile led the way with an average jump of 5 meters.

For the women's team, it was highlighted by Rachel Maciejeski who once again took home gold in the women's pole vault with an average jump of 3.85 meters. Brooke Lomax placed second in the women's 800-meter run, and the women's 4x400-meter run took home gold.
