HUNTSVILLE– The Sam Houston women's basketball team will finish out a three-game homestand on Thursday against Jacksonville State.  

The Kats will take on the Gamecocks at Johnson Coliseum with tip off set for 6:30 pm. The game is set to be aired on ESPN+ with Tom Franklin and Ken Holland on the call, while fans can also tune in on GoBearkats.com or the Bearkat Sports app to listen to Collin Neill's audio call. 

Series vs JSU 
This will be the first all-time meeting between the Kats and Gamecocks.  

QUICK HITTERS 
Raanee Smith continues to leave her mark on each game with her work on the boards, ranking third in Conference USA with 9.0 rebounds per game. However, her work on the offensive glass has stood out even more. She currently leads CUSA and ranks fourth in the nation with 5.0 offensive rebounds per game.  

She has put together six double-doubles this season with her last coming in a loss to Louisiana Tech on Jan. 6 when she scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, a game which capped a streak of three straight games with a double-double. Of her 162 total rebounds this year, 91 have come on the offensive glass, highlighted by 16 offensive rebounds in the Kats' win over Texas College.  

Since she took over the SHSU program for the 2018-19 season, Coach Ravon Justice's teams have taken full advantage of their trips to the charity stripe, ranking in the top 10 in the nation in free throw attempts and makes in four of her first five years at the helm. This year is no different as the Kats enter Thursday's game ranking third in the nation with 25.56 free throw attempts per game, and fifth in the country with an average of 17.33 made foul shots per game. 

In addition to their efforts at the foul line, the Bearkats also lead the conference and rank 13th in the nation in turnovers forced with 21.5 per game.
