Box Score HOUSTON — The Sam Houston softball squad jumped on Houston Christian early and cruised to a 3-0 win at Husky Field on Tuesday.
The Bearkats started off the first inning with a home run by
Elia Hebel, her seventh on the season.
Ellie Grill then drew a walk and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Sam Houston looked to do more damage in the seventh as freshman pitcher
Abigail Young rolled in the circle. The Bearkats loaded the bases and scored the final run of the game on a sacrifice fly by
Allie Saville.
Abigail Young went the distance for the Kats. She tossed seven shutout innings with six strikeouts to improve to 4-5 on the season.
Hebel led Sam Houston with two hits while
Tricia Yarotsky,
Jordan Peno and
Haleigh Carter all hit safely in the victory.
The Bearkats don't have a break as they head to Lake Charles on Wednesday to face McNeese at 6 p.m.
