HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston and Incarnate Word revived an old rivalry Thursday and as always, there were some fireworks.
The Cardinals managed a late goal in the second half to pull even for a 1-1 draw with the Bearkats at Pritchett Field. Sam Houston moved to 2-1-2 on the season in a match that saw five yellow cards handed out.
The first half offensive attacked belonged to the Kats. Sam Houston kept the ball on UIW's side of the field and eventually drew a penalty in the box.
Pam Murray took the shot for Sam Houston. She easily kicked it past the keeper into the net for the 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute.
The match stayed that way for a while. Bearkat keeper
Cassia Souza didn't face many shots but did finish with a pair of saves in the second half before giving way to backup
Paige Fry.
Fry played well, recording a save in 22 minutes in goal. The Cardinals were able to get the equalizer on a header.
The Bearkats return to action Sunday to face Lamar in Beaumont at 7 p.m.
