COLLEGE STATION — The Sam Houston indoor track and field teams opened the 2025 season at the McFerrin 12 Degree Invitational hosted by Texas A&M at the R.A. Murray Fasken Indoor Track facility.
Caleb Anthony earned the first gold for the Bearkats this season. He won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.24.
Jayden Jones earned a second-place medal for his performance in the 200 meters with a time of 21.01 seconds.
Jeremiah Cams took the bronze in the high jump with a leap of 2.00 meters, and Jack Johnson was fourth at 1.90 meters. John Hanson took third place in the shot put with a throw of 15.91 meters, and Mateo Ortiz came in fifth with a mark of 15.66.
Nikos Fotinopoulos was third in the weight throw with a distance of 16.85 meters, just ahead of teammate Mateo Ortiz who was fourth at 14.41.
Kapualani Magnani brought home silver for Sam Houston in the women's weight throw. She had a toss of 14.96 meters. Riandi Boshoff captured fifth with a throw of 13.47 meters, and
Gudisa Adnow came in fifth in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:19.59.
The Bearkats had three athletes place in the top eight in the 400 meters.
Alyssa Jolly finished fourth with a time of 58.68,
Amaya Kennison-Jenkins was sixth at 59.31 and Makensi Greenwood was seventh at 1:01.76.
Jayda Love placed fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:28.02, and
Ellie Galan placed sixth in the mile with a time of 4:59.85.
Amaya Brown placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.65 meters.
Sam Houston went fourth, fifth and sixth in the men's mile. Anthony Perez had a time of 4:20.57,
Jacob Zimmerman was fifth at 4:23.10 and
Christian Rohlack finised in a time of 4:24.97.
Tyriq Brunn finished seventh in the 60 meters with a time of 6.82 seconds. Robert Krosnyak placed sixth in the 400 meters with a mark of 48.90, and
Jaquez Simmons was seventh at 49.43.
