HUNTSVILLE – Despite a long day of rain delays, Sam Houston opened its 2025 spring dual match schedule with a 7-0 victory over Prairie View that started at 10:00 a.m. and ended almost at dark.
The Bearkats (1-0) swept each singles match in straight sets and earned the doubles point with a trio of victories. The contest marked the inaugural dual-match competition in Sam Houston's new Beckner Tennis Center.
The two squads were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but the continual stoppages due to the weather forced the pair to cancel the nightcap.
Nayuma Subba defeated Andrea Blanca, 6-1 6-0, at the No. 1 position.
Christine Jevicky (SHSU) powered past Ainara Rodriguez, 6-2 6-2, at No. 2. Jacqueline
Scnabel downed Daniela Garcia 6-2 6-3 in the No. 3 spot.

Aaliyah Hohmann topped AdAmaya Bobadilla by a 6-0 6-2 score, AdithiVenkatakrishna downed Joanne Fernandes 6-0 6-3 and
Sara Sadadinovic defeated Precious Ugochukwu 6-3 6-0.
