Kats close competition at Northeast Classic

NEW CASTLE, Del. — The Sam Houston bowling team had to cut the competition short at the Northeast Classic, but the Bearkats had a solid start to the second half of the season on Saturday.
The Bearkats went 3-2 on the day to finish 8-2 with 10,381 total pins, just 14 behind fourth-place Stephen F. Austin. Nebraska was leading followed by Jacksonville State and Youngstown State.
"Today was an up and down day for sure with a lot of great shot making, some bad timing, and some missteps," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Every moment is a new opportunity to do the right thing, and we let some of those moments to rebound and reset get the best of us. It's awesome we're healthy right now and what we did Friday is nothing short of what we can certainly do more often, but we have to manage the moments of adversity as a positive not a negative." Â
Senior Katie Paris led the Bearkats with a career best day average of 221.40 as did Bre Chewens with an average of 213.0.
