Kats sign Hymer for 2025-26

HUNTSVILLE -Â Sam Houston head golf coach Brandt Kieschnick added another top recruit to its 2025 class on Wednesday, announcing the signing of Jackson Hymer.Â

Hymer will join the Bearkats in Fall 2025 after spending his freshman year at Baylor. His collegiate career came after a strong prep career at San Antonio's Johnson High School. While there he competed at the 2024 Southern Amateur, part of the Elite Amateur Series and captured the District 28-6A title as a sophomore to earn a spot on the San Antonio Express-News All-Area team in 2022. Â
In the summer of 2023 Hymer carded four top-10 finishes, highlighted by a win at the SAGA San Antonio Junior Championship. He shot 75-72 to earn a spot in the round of 64 at the US Junior Amateur in 202 and won at the AJGA Cameron McCormick Junior All-Star, thanks to a final-round 64.Â

Kieschnick on Hymer: "Jackson was one of the top recruits in Texas for his class and I was able to watch him play a lot in his junior career. He is a tremendous ball-striker and has a great mind for the game, having played and performed at a high level in some of the nation's best events. Jackson shoots a lot of under-par scores and has the ability to go very low. We are super excited Jackson will be joining us and will add to an already talented group of players."
