ARLINGTON — The Sam Houston bowling team had a perfect day Saturday at the Prairie View Invitational at the ITRC.
Â
The Bearkats increase their total pins to 10,673Â as they went 5-0 in baker match competition to settle into fifth place after day two of competition. Jacksonville State (10,810) remains in the lead followed by Vanderbilt (10,777), North Carolina A&T (10,745) and Arkansas State (10,690).
Â
"Today was a huge day for us," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Every day is important, every match is important, every shot matters just as much as the one before and after it, so for us to do what we did today was a complete group effort. To have three ladies average 200 or higher on a Saturday is a great day in the office not to mention to have ready and able individuals to come off the bench ready to compete.Â
"As I mentioned yesterday, we can compete with the best of them, but we need to learn to keep momentum in our corner when it presents itself and we did a great job of that today. Every match but one was close and we kept our heads up, pushed forward, and it paid off today. Sunday is another opportunity for us to keep ascending, competing to our potential and checking boxes with wins are the most important right now."
Denise Blankenzee finished Saturday with a 225.60 average. Breana Chewens posted a 223.20 average, and Noey Sarntong had a solid day with a 220.20. Â
