Early goal lifts Kats over Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD – Ellie Morgan struck early with her fourth goal of the season, to guide the Bearkats to their fifth shutout win in Conference USA play.

Morgan headed in her goal off a corner kick taken by Taylor Vance in the 10th minute to lift Sam Houston to a 1-0 victory over Missouri State on Sunday. The Kats (7-4-2, 5-1-1) earned a win their first matchup against the Bears in both team's history.

The Bearkat defense remained dominate, fending off the Bear's 13 shots. Katie Bahn had a key save alongside Alesandra Maldonado to keep the Bears scoreless while posting her fifth clean sheet of the season and third in a row.

Sam Houston will travel to Liberty on Sunday at 12 p.m. for the final match before the Conference USA championships.
