
Kats close fall tied for tenth at The Ally

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Sam Houston women's golf team conclude the 2025 fall season tied with Xavier for tenth place in The Ally at Old Waverly Golf Course on Wednesday.

The Bearkats shot 17-over par in the final round as they finished the tournament with +35 over 54 holes. The Kats out shot Iowa, a power 4 school, by 8 strokes and 2024 Conference USA Championship runner-up, Jax State, by 12 strokes.

Amelia Guo placed 23rd after shooting two birdies in the final round, firing off 74-73-72 to finish at +3. Just behind her, Francesca Sumcad shot 74-69-77 to finish the three-day tournament at +4 after shooting four birdies in the final round, finishing 29th.

In the end, Florida took the team title, finishing -26 overall. The closest team to the Gators was Arkansas shooting -21, followed by Vanderbilt (-5).

Bomyeong Lee finished 42nd with 74-72-77 on her scorecard. Gracie Heinle shot consistently with 79 for all three rounds of play, finishing in 73rd at 21-over par. Shanna Sandoval shot 85-82-82, placing 83rd. Victoria Renzi competed as an individual shooting 90-78-82.

The Bearkats will host the Texas Golf Throwdown to open the spring portion of the 2025-2026 schedule on the weekend of February 16-17 in The Woodlands.
