
Kats finish tenth in Texas Golf Throwdown

THE WOODLANDS – The Sam Houston women's golf team placed 10th at the Texas Golf Throwdown, held at The Woodlands Country Club.
The Bearkats turned in a final-round of 33-over-par to finish the two-day tournament at +73 overall, ending the event ahead of St. Thomas, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, and Murray State.
Isabelle Hurrion paced the Kats, tying for 23rd overall after posting rounds of 84-74-81. Hurrion opened her final round with a birdie on the third hole. Competing as an individual, Pureun Kim also tied for 23rd, recording birdies to close the front nine and open the back nine while shooting rounds of 76-77-75.
In the end, No. 4 ranked Iowa State Cyclones captured the team title, finishing the tournament at 2-under-par overall. Nebraska finished second at +35, followed by Cincinnati at +39.
Shanna Sandoval joined Kim as an individual competitor, posting rounds of 86-89-92. Amelia Guo finished 32nd overall, closing with a birdie on the 13th hole to shoot 79 in the final round and recording an Oreo on her scorecard with rounds of 79-76-79.
Francesca Sumcad, Bomyeoung Lee, and Victoria Renzi each shot 81 in the final round. Sumcad added a birdie on the third hole and finished with rounds of 84-74-81. Lee closed out the team scoring with rounds of 77-83-81, while Renzi posted scores of 84-78-81.
The Bearkats return to action at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate, hosted by the University of North Florida, beginning Monday, February 23, at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida.
