
Kats finish tenth in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Sam Houston women's golf team finished 10th at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate, held at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
The Bearkats posted a final-round score of 15-over-par to close the two-day tournament at +67 overall, finishing ahead of Campbell, Old Dominion, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville. Sam Houston ended two strokes behind host University of North Florida, one stroke behind Furman and eight strokes behind Miami.
Francesca Sumcad led the Kats with rounds of 75-77-75, recording three birdies in the opening round and two in round two before finishing strong with birdies on holes one and 14 in the final round. She placed 15th overall at 11-over-par.
Competing as an individual, Pureun Kim finished at 12-over-par to place 20th. She opened with rounds of 77 and 80, tallying three birdies in round one and two in round two, before rebounding with a one-under-par 71 in the final round. Kim carded four birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine during her closing round.
Isabell Hurrion posted rounds of 77-78-75, highlighted by a birdie on hole seven in round one and another on the 15th hole in the final round.
In team competition, No. 29 ranked Oklahoma State captured the title at 24-over-par overall. Florida Gulf Coast finished second at +29, followed by Tulsa at +40.
Victoria Renzi finished 48th at 20-over-par with rounds of 83-76-77. She recorded a birdie on hole four in round one, added birdies on holes 10 and 16 in round two and collected three birdies in the final round.
Amelia Guo placed 53rd at 22-over-par after rounds of 83-79-76, making a birdie on hole 15 in round two and adding birdies on holes eight and 16 in the final round.
Bomyeong Lee finished at +25 with rounds of 84-79-78, highlighted by a birdie on hole 10 in round one and three birdies in round two.
The Bearkats will take a short break before returning to action at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, hosted by Texas at the University of Texas Golf Course beginning March 17 in Austin.
