Hilltoppers late goal stun the Kats

HUNTSVILLE — Western Kentucky scored a goal in the last 10 seconds of the match to knock off Sam Houston 1-0 at Pritchett field on Sunday.
The Bearkats (5-4-1) took their first lost in Conference USA play, moving to 2-1-1. Sam Houston was undefeated in conference play headed into Sunday's match.
It was a defensive battle until WKU broke through in the 89th minute. The Hilltoppers' MacKenzie Howard tapped in a goal off a deflection, pushing it past Katie Bahn, who had three saves on the day.
Sam Houston fought hard in having seven shots on goal but couldn't get past WKU. Indigo Sims had a solid chance in the final minutes to score, but the shot was saved by the Hilltoppers.
The Bearkats will host their final home match against UTEP on Saturday at 7 p.m.
