KENNESAW, Ga. — Sam Houston completed a road trip sweep with a 65-53 victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday at the KSU Convocation Center.
The Bearkats (12-11, 5-8 C-USA) have now won four of their last five games overall and secured a season split of the two games vs the Owls this season.
Deborah Ogayemi led the Kats with 17 points, while Nyla Inmon added 16 points and eight rebounds. Aysia Ward-Strong contributed 10 rebounds and four assists.
The Kats controlled the game down the stretch after building a commanding lead in the third quarter. Sam Houston went on a 15-2 run over 7 minutes, 52 seconds, holding the Owls scoreless for more than six minutes in the period. The surge helped the Kats build a lead of as many as 17 points.
Despite a 17-17 tie after the first quarter, the Bearkats led for most of the game and pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Kennesaw State 19-15.
Sam Houston, which leads the conference in free-throw attempts, shot 84 percent from the line, accounting for 21 points.
The Bearkats return home to host WKU and Middle Tennessee next week at Johnson Coliseum. Both games will stream on ESPN+.
