LAFAYETTE, La. — Sam Houston closed out the Louisiana Classics Tournament with a pair of victories on Saturday at Lamson Park.
The Bearkats (5-5) edged Northern Illinois 1-0 in the morning opener before dominating host Louisiana 8-2 later in the day.

Kendall Daniel tossed a shutout, allowing four hits with two strikeouts in seven innings.
The lone run came in the fourth inning when Samantha Graeter lifted a sacrifice fly to score Morgan Holliday, who had doubled to left field. With Daniels dealing in the circle, that lone run would prove to be the difference as she improved to 2-1 on the season.

Sophomore Amy Abke earned her second win of the season, throwing all seven innings while allowing two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Six Bearkats recorded hits, and six crossed the plate in the victory.
Sam Houston jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Brodie Quinlan drew an RBI walk, and Graeter scored on an error before Kristin Whitlock added an RBI single to bring home Bella Perez. Another Louisiana error extended the lead to 4-0.
Holliday's RBI double in the third pushed the lead to 5-0 before the Ragin' Cajuns got on the board with two runs in the third inning on a pair of singles.
Graeter scored again in the fourth, and Elia Hebel sealed the win with an RBI triple down the right-field line.
Sam Houston wraps up the tournament Sunday, facing NIU at 8 a.m. and Louisiana at 1 p.m.
