FRISCO – The Sam Houston Bearkats will test their mettle against some of the nation's best over the weekend when they travel north to take part in the Frisco College Classic at Riders Field.

The Kats will take on defending Big 10 champion Nebraska on Friday, followed by games vs Kansas State and No. 2 LSU on Saturday and Sunday at the home of the Texas Rangers' AA affiliate, the Frisco Rough Riders.

Each game can be watched on D1Baseball.com's streaming service for a subscription fee, while the game can also be heard on KSHU 90.5 FM and on the Bearkat Sports Network online. The game can also be followed via live stats or by following @BearkatsBSB on X and Instagram.

It will be the Kats' second appearance in the Frisco College Classic and the third time SHSU has taken part in a tournament put on by Peak Events. Sam Houston last was at Riders Park in 2019 when it fell to Mississippi State before walking off Nebraska in an event halted early due to extreme weather.

The Kats also took part in the 2023 Karbach Classic at Dell Diamond in Round Rock where they took on Kansas State and LSU, both of whom they will face this weekend in Frisco. In all, SHSU is 3-2 all-time in Peak events.

The weekend is a continuation of a 9-game stretch of games away from Don Sanders Stadium. The Kats will be looking to rebound from a midweek loss at Houston on Tuesday at Schroeder Park.
