HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston grabbed its second straight conference win of the 2025 season at in 66-54 victory over FIU at Johnson Coliseum on Thursday.
The Bearkats (10-10, 3-7 CUSA) got a boost from their bench, which contributed 39 points, led by non-starter Nyla Inmon. She posted a career-high 20 points and added nine rebounds, falling just shy of her third double-double.
Tonight's victory marks Sam Houston's first win over FIU in program history. The Bearkats previously fell to FIU in Miami earlier this season.
Sam Houston tied the game at 11 at the end of the first quarter on a jumper by Deborah Ogayemi. Transfer Esther Rodellar closed out the first half with her first 3-pointer of the season, helping the Kats take a 31-25 lead into the break.
Kaila Kelley returned to action with eight points after missing conference play since the opener due to a leg injury.
The Bearkats knocked down five 3-pointers, their most in conference play this season. Inmon led the way with two, while Rodellar and Sydnee Kemp each added one.
Sam Houston will host Liberty on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
