KENNESAW, Ga. - Aaliyah Homann and Christina Jevicky posted singles victories at the Nos. 2 and 6 positions to account for Sam Houston's two points as the Bearkat women's tennis team fell to Kennesaw State 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the KSU Tennis Courts.
The match marked the Kats' first meeting with the newest member of Conference USA in Sam Houston's second league outing of the season. Kennesaw State upped its record to 5-2. The Bearkats stand 4-6.
KSU opened the contest by earning the doubles point with victories at the number one and two positions. Ema Baranikova and Sofia Madrid defeated the Kats'
Nayuma Subba and
Jacqueline Schnabel 6-0 at the top spot. Izabelle Person and Sophia Unger, KSU topped
Ella Fitcher and
Aaliyah Hohmann at No. 2, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point.
Bearkats
Christine Jevicky and
Adithi Venkatakrishnan were leading Terezia Baraniakova and Lauara Nadaska, 5-4, when their match was spotted with the doubles point clinched.
The Sam Houston netters continue their six match series of road contests with trips to Louisiana Tech and LSU Shreveport on March 22 and 23.
