WACO — Sam Houston fell 3-2 to North Texas on Sunday at the Baylor Invitational at Getterman Stadium.
The Bearkats (7-12) were winless at the tournament for their final nonconference weekend of the season. Sam Houston did flash some power, however.
Morgan Holliday smashed a two-run home run over the left field wall in the top of the third inning to put the Kats on the board, her first round tripper of the season.
The Mean Green answered quickly, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third, aided by an error by Kyla Heine to take the lead for good.
Amy Abke (2-5) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits in three innings. Kendall Daniel pitched in relief but did not record a save opportunity.
Sam Houston will face East Texas A&M in Commerce on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. The game can be followed on StatBroadcast.
