Kats earn four more wins at Bulldog Classic

FORT WORTH — Sam Houston improved its win total on day two of the Bulldog Classic on Saturday.

The Bearkats went 4-1 to push their overall record to 6-4 and in second place in the field of 10 teams. Sam Houston (9,062) trails host Louisiana Tech (9,360) and remains ahead of Oklahoma Christian, Tulane, Morgan State, Alabama State, Central Missouri, Prairie View, Jackson State and Saint Anselm.

"I can't say today was much better from a scoring standpoint, but we were able to close a few close matches which was the difference between a good day and another collapse," head coach Brad Hagen. "The scoring pace is brutal, and every shot requires discipline and patience. A spare goes a mile more so than ever before and our training is what needs to be reflected shot to shot.Â

"The key to any event is to overcome no matter the obstacle and learn. Smart decisions and confidence equals win, and we need to continue to focus on our good decisions and not our bad shots. We have a chance to keep bouncing back and we can still save face this weekend. That's our goal."

The teams will play in the championship round on Sunday.
