Daniel named CUSA Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS — Sam Houston redshirt sophomore Kendall Daniel has been named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Daniel, a transfer from Tarleton, played a pivotal role in the Bearkats' 4-0 week, which included their first CUSA series sweep of the season against Kennesaw State. The right-hander tossed 10 2/3 scoreless innings across three appearances, striking out 13 batters while allowing just five hits.
She earned a win in relief on Saturday, entering in the fifth with two runners on and escaping the jam with back-to-back strikeouts. She finished the outing with four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. On Sunday, Daniel secured her first save of the season, closing out a 3-1 victory over Kennesaw State.
Her performances also included a win in 8-0 run-rule victory over SFA on Wednesday and an 8-3 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday.
Daniel is the first Bearkat to earn a CUSA weekly honor this season.
