LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A five run fifth inning proved to be the turning point in 8-0 walk-off loss on Saturday at NM State Softball Complex.
The Bearkats (17-18, 6-5 CUSA) fell in six innings after a two-run home run to walk it off.
The Aggies scored the first run of the game in the third and extended their lead with five runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-0 lead. NM State was able to put the run-rule into effect thanks to the game-winning shot that went over the center field wall.
Kendall Daniel (5-4) received the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits. She pitched five innings, walked three and struck out one.
Abigail Young came in on relief in the bottom of the sixth. She collected two runs on two hits, pitching 2/3 innings.
Three Bearkats recorded hits including a double by Bella Perez.
The Bearkats will close out the series on Sunday with first pitch set for 12 p.m. The game can be followed on StatBroadcast.
