LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Sam Houston could not avoid the series sweep in a 3-0 loss to NM State on Sunday at the NM State Softball Complex. 

The Bearkats (17-19, 6-6 CUSA) were held to three hits and were unable to push across a run. 

The Aggies took a one-run lead in the first on an RBI single and extended it to 2-0 in the fourth. A Bearkat error in the fifth allowed another run, making it 3-0. 

Abigail Young started in the circle for Sam Houston, going six innings while allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. 

Elia Hebel had two of the Bearkats' three hits on the day.  

Sam Houston will face Texas State on Wednesday, resuming a suspended game from Feb. 18 before playing game two at 6 p.m. The second game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and available on StatBroadcast.
