Bearkats complete opening round of the CUSA Championships

ST AUGUSTINE, FLA. – The Sam Houston women's golf team fired a round of 301 and stands in eighth place after the opening round of the Conference USA Championships on Monday, played at World Golf Village.
Grace Jin led the way with a round of 71, which has her tied for 6th individually after her first 18 of the weeks. Jin played consistent firing off a birdie to start the round and another birdie later the 16th hole.
Gracie Heinle turned in a 74 putting her 19th overall after shooting three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on the day. Amelia Guo came in right behind her with a 75. Cari Denson's 81 closed out the Kats' scoring rounds, while Victoria Renzi finished alongside her with an 81.
Jax State leads the 8-team field with team rounds of 287 heading into round 2. FIU is just behind them shooting even par (288) on the day.
The Kats will tee off for Round 2 of the CUSA Championships at 7:30 a.m. from World Golf Village. Sam Houston will be paired with Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State.
Live Scoring will be via Scoreboard by Clipped with updating scores throughout the round as well as results at the end of each day.
