Box Score DALLAS – The DBU Patriots scored in each of the first four innings and rolled to an 18-4 win over Sam Houston in seven innings on Friday afternoon at Horner Ballpark to clinch the series with one game remaining on the weekend.
The Patriots (27-11, 10-4 CUSA) scored four times in the first inning and broke it open with a 9-run third inning, homering six times a day after blasting four longballs in the series opener to win their eighth straight game and sixth in a row in Conference USA play.
The Kats (8-31, 2-12 CUSA) turned to Cam Diaz for the start, but the righty logged just 2.0 innings before being lifted and took the loss to fall to 0-4 on the year.
Jace Martinez drove in the Kats' first run of the game with an RBI double in the fifth, while Brady Christensen, Parker Blackman and Blake Brown all had two hits apiece. Each of Christensen's hits went for three bases, making him the first Bearkat since Hunter Hearn in 2017 with multiple triples in a single game.
